Department of Biology successfully held International Conference  on  Biosciences  (ICoBio)  2015  on 5 - 7 August 2015 in IPB International Convention Centre. The conference taking the theme of "Appreciating Unity in Diversity". This conference is intended to gain insight into current trends in research and teaching related to biology, such as interdisciplinary approaches that are important for understanding the biology and its applications. Moreover, to encourage the formation of networks between biologists and relevant stakeholders to accelerate our efforts to understand the biological phenomena and their applications.

The ICoBio 2015 is attended by participants from several countries including Japan, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Germany, Thailand, and Indonesia. Total participants who register are 220 participants. However not all participant who register could be accepted as a presenter, so there is some participant suggested as non-presenter (attendant). Due to the wide scope of bioscience, the ICoBio 2015 topic is divided into four main groups focusing on Biodiversity, ecology, and evolution (group 1); physiological, developmental, and behavioral sciences (group 2); Molecular biology, biotechnology, and omic technology (group 3); and Applied and interdisciplinary biology (group 4).

In addition, a series of activities were also conducted before the conference begins, namely the activity of "One day lecture in Bioinformatics by Prof Rolf Daniel - Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany" and mini symposium NAIST Japan - IPB Bogor entitled “Symposium on Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia) - Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan) Graduate Student Exchange Program”. Through those activity the participants are expected to gain extensive insight regarding bioinformatic and the current techniques in modern biotechnology.

The ICoBio 2015 was the first international conference organized by the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia and is expected to serve as an initial step to be held continuously every two years (bianually). This activity is also the first step in the framework of collaboration between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (especially Department of Biology) Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia with the Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, Thailand. Through such activities will be able to foster a love of bioscience and the exchange of information on bioscience and the development of networking between researchers.
