SL Story (2): Make the Coast more Greener

The next day (27/7), the group of lecturers and students of the Department of Biology IPB continued Studi Lapangan (SL, Field Study) research around the Ujung Kulon National Park and it communities. After visiting the elementary school in the previous day, school visits continued to higher level school that is the junior high school in Tamanjaya. The activity is related to human biology research and accompanied by the introduction of environmental change issues around coastal communities. The visit was followed by the tree planting activities in coastal areas of Tamanjaya in the afternoon. Dr. Hamim (Vice of Dean, FMIPA IPB) and Dr. Iman Rusmana (head of the Department) had the opportunity to deliver a welcome speech and put tree seeds at first. Present in this activity, senior high school students, and student - lecturer in the Department of Biology.
SL Activity Department of Biology, Faculty, IPB this year also pay more attention to improving young communities’ interest in reading, especially those who live in the area Tamanjaya. Participants of SL managed to collect dozens of books worth reading and some health education game device which is then submitted to the Reading House of Rumah Tukik. The activity received a positive response from the managers, members of the community around the area Tamanjaya.
 

Studi Lapangan (Field Study, SL) is one of subject in the Department of Biology that have purpose to train students to doing small scale of basic biology research. The subject is taken by 3rd-year student. This year of SL conducted at Ujung Kulon National Park (UKNP) on 25-28 July 2016 and supported by Bank Mandiri and Balai Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon (BTNUK).
