Fendi Attending the Symposium on Genomics of Plant Genetic Resources (GPGR4) Germany

Graduate Student of Plant Biology Study Program - Department of Biology, attended the 4th International Symposium on Genomics of Plant Genetic Resources (GPGR4) in Giessen, Germany on September 3-7, 2017. The student, Miftahul Huda Fendiyanto (Fendi), granted a travel scholarship with the total value more than 1,000 (EUR) and additional funds from the IPB Student Affairs.

After selection process, including abstract, motivation letter and supervisors recommendation, the GPGR4 committee decided to grant six travel scholarships to Reshmi Rani Das (CIMMYT, India), Miftahul Huda Fendiyanto (Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia), Clémence Marchal (John Innes Center, UK), Joël Nguepjop (CERAAS, Senegal), Lorena Parra González (University of California, Davis, USA), and Nikiema Zara Soutonnoma (West Africa Center for Crop Improvement, Ghana) (https://www.gpgr4.org/scholarships).

At the symposium, Fendi conducted an oral presentation about "Functional Analysis of OsgerLP Promoter, an Aluminum Tolerance Gene on Rice". The main topic of the symposium is "Discuss the future of our most important agricultural assets, our plant genetic resources, with world leaders in crop genetics and genomics".

The previous symposium was held in Beijing, China (2005), Bologna, Italy (2010) and Jeju, Korea (2013). Then, the next symposium will be held in Hyderabad, India on February, 2020. The conference is sponsored by Cargill, Du Pont Pioneer, Illumina, German Seed Alliance, Syngenta, Monsanto, BGI, Limagrain. Exhibitors of the Conference are conducted by Illumina, Molecular Plant, NovoGene, Weisstechnik, NRGene, BGI, LGC, Phenospex, LemnaTec, and Plant Ditech Functional Phenotyping.
