Summer Course on Bio-Geology of Belitong Geopark

The 2nd Summer Course on Bio-Geology of Belitong Geopark

Belitung, or in English: Billiton, is a tropical island located on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The biodiversity of Belitung Island attracted many scientists to visit the island to observe and learn its richness and potency. Last year, on 20-25 November 2018, Department of Biology, IPB University successfully organized the 1st Summer Course on Biology of Belitong Geopark which has a theme of Towards Belitong UNESCO Global Geopark. This event was participated by students of the Department of Biology (IPB University), Osaka University (Japan), Kanazawa University (Japan), Kasetsart University (Thailand), and Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia). They visited 10 geosites in Belitong Island to investigate the biodiversity of lichen, mushroom, mollusk, primate, moss, fish, and bird while learned some techniques related to these organisms.

This year event will have a rebranding name that is Summer Course on Bio-Geology of Belitong Geopark to accommodate the needs of broadening insight in biology and geology of the Geopark.

Cerita: Enam Hari Menjelajah Geopark Belitong
