The Department of Biology organized a simulation for the IELTS for undergraduate students on 15 January 2018 in Ruang Baca. IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers and was established in 1989. The aim of this simulation is to make the students familiarize with the test. Then, the student can decide on what kind of preparation they needed to face the IELTS test.
Started at 09.00 AM, the students carried out the first part of the IELTS test, the listening. The simulation then continued to the reading and writing parts. After a lunch break at 12.00-1.00 PM, the simulation advanced to the speaking part and discussion. The discussion was lead by Ivan Permana Putra S.Si., M.Si and Mafrikhul Muttaqin S.Si., M.Si.
"It was fun. But, I didn't expect that the IELTS questions are this challenging", Kael Dilon Ezra, a participant, said it at the end of the IELTS simulation. "For me, this simulation is precious in the case of the knowledge I got. We should prepare our best before taking the real IELTS test", Indah Prima Desi, another participant, added.
"We organized this event not only to measure the student's ability in English language proficiency but also to give an understanding to IELTS", Mafrikhul Muttaqin S.Si., M.Si. said it. "A good English proficiency is a must in this 4.0 era", he added.
